Fred Steward is Visiting Professor at the UCL Bartlett School of Environment, Energy & Resources and Emeritus Professor at the University of Westminster. An expert on interdisciplinary policy research on system innovation and sociotechnical transitions, he was a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Environment Agency (2017-2020). As President of the European Association for the Study of Science & Technology, EASST (2008-2016) he played a leading role in promoting the international field of innovation studies. He is an associate of the Transformative Innovation Policy Consortium and consultant on smart specialisation and the Sustainable Development Goals to the EC Joint Research Centre. He pioneered the field of transformative innovation policy and is currently writing a book on the topic.
