David Healy has been Professor of Psychiatry at McMaster, Cardiff and Bangor Universities. He studied medicine in Dublin, and at Cambridge and is a former Secretary of the British Association for Psychopharmacology.
He has authored of over 230 peer reviewed articles, 300 other pieces and 24 books, including The Antidepressant Era, The Creation of Psychopharmacology (Harvard U Press), The Psychopharmacologists Volumes 1-3, Let Them Eat Prozac (New York U Press), Mania (Johns Hopkins U Press), Pharmageddon (California U Press), and most recently Children of the Cure and Shipwreck of the Singular from Samizdat Press.
His research focus is on the adverse effects of treatment, clinical trials, the history of psychopharmacology, and the impact of both trials and psychotropic drugs on the cultural air we breathe. He is a founder of Data Based Medicine and RxISK.org.
