Timothée Olivier, MD

 

Dr. Timothée Olivier is a Swiss medical oncologist and researcher at the Geneva University Hospitals and a Privat-Docent at the University of Geneva. Dr. Olivier trained at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) under Professor Vinay Prasad, who now holds a senior position at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Dr Olivier is internationally recognized for his expertise in clinical trial methodology, evidence-based medicine, and health policy in oncology. He is the author of several peer-reviewed publications. Among them are multiple sensitivity analyses and original works on informative censoring, both to advance its understanding and to develop tools to explore it. With a strong interest in digital innovation, he also developed the BREAKING-ICE App, an online platform designed to explore informative censoring and, following the principles of open science, to allow both the public and researchers to perform sensitivity analyses. This tool was published in The Lancet Oncology in 2025 with openly shared code. Dr. Olivier specializes in the treatment of sarcomas and head and neck cancers and serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of ESMO Rare Cancers, reflecting his leadership in advancing care and research for rare tumors. Dr Olivier also serves as a member of the Geneva Ethics Committee Board for Human Research, and is involved in humanitarian activities in India and Nepal, where he maintains ongoing commitments.
