Eva-Maria Zebedin, who worked with Eli on EUnetHTA, projects is sharing the following lines by Viktor E Frankl in Eli's memory:

One of my first and long-lasting memory of Eli is seeing him sprawled on his chair in the open space of the 2^nd floor at Spring Gardens. His backpack desultorily thrown on the floor in the middle of the way. It was a health and safety hazard but Eli could not care less. He was watching the results of the cricket on the BBC sports website while reviewing a scientific advice report. This is not the point. Repeat. Delete. Move. One day we started to talk about cricket … Eli loved cricket, he allegedly went to school with Raul Dravid (eh!!! Posh guy!!!). I had learned the game, in the nets at Lords, couldn’t ball, couldn’t bat and couldn’t field. Where did your money go? Errr … Eli who was born with a cricket bat in his hand couldn’t stop but take the mickey out of me. Never play cricket in India! They have prepared the pitch! I am not planning to, Eli! I would not disclose my stats, my best figures. Now, we have left Spring Gardens, we have moved offices but still when I see an empty chair in the open space in Stratford, I can’t help but remember these wacky, fascinating discussions on any kind of subject. I could have been cricket but we talked about literature (he loved George Orwell), whisky, children, photography, cars and … yes, sometimes we were talking about scientific advice. Sometimes. I don’t know who inherited Eli’s backpack but please, keep it preciously. One day this backpack may tell you everything about cricket pitches in India. Or something else. And may be health economics. This chair is empty. The backpack has disappeared. Without Eli, our world feels empty as well.
